I can see my Snapper USB's balance on MySnapper but I can't top up
We have had reports that some people have encountered a problem using their Snapper USB with MySnapper on Windows.
If you are affected by this issue, you may find MySnapper can read the balance on your Snapper USB but you cannot top up.
We have identified that the cause of this problem is that some old Windows drivers that should have been updated by Windows Update but for some reason have not. In order to update these drivers manually, see the instructions on your particular version of Windows below:
Windows XP
- Click Start.
- Click Control Panel.
- Click Performance and Maintenance.
- Click System.
- On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.
- Collapse Smart Card Readers.
- Double-click Generic PC/SC Usb Smart Card Reader.
- On the Driver tab, click Update Driver.
- Click Install the software automatically (Recommended).
Windows 7
- Click Start.
- Click Control Panel.
- Click System and Security.
Note: If you're viewing the Large icons or Small icons view of Control Panel, you won't see this link. Simply click on Device Manager and then proceed to Step 4. - Click Device Manager.
- Collapse Smart Card Readers.
- Double-click Generic PC/SC Usb Smart Card Reader.
- On the Driver tab, click Update Driver.
- Click Search automatically for updated driver software.
Windows Vista
- Click Start.
- Click Control Panel.
- Click System and Maintenance.
Note: If you're viewing the Classic View of Control Panel, you won't see this link. Simply double-click on the Administrative Tools icon and proceed to Step 4. - In the System and Maintenance window, click on the Administrative Tools link near the bottom of the window.
- In the Administrative Tools window, double-click on the Computer Management icon.
- When the Computer Management utility opens, click on Device Manager on the left side of the window, located toward the bottom of the list under the System Tools heading.
- Collapse Smart Card Readers.
- Double-click Generic PC/SC Usb Smart Card Reader.
- On the Driver tab, click Update Driver
- Click Search automatically for updated driver software.
