How do I know my concession has successfully been applied to my card?

For Child, Young Adult Connect, Tertiary, Accessible, & Community Connect concessions:

There are several ways to check whether your concession has been loaded:

  • Call 0800 555 345 and select the balance menu – this will also inform you of any concessions
  • When you next tag on, the card reader will double beep and display the concession name (examples of bus screens can be found here, and rail screens here.
  • Scan your card using the Snapper mobile app – if a concession is present on the card it will be displayed
  • Visit a Snapper retailer and request a balance enquiry receipt

For the Child Under 13 Free Pass:

The Child Under 13 Free fare, takes the form of a pass, rather than a concession type on the card. This means that the card will always show as having a Child concession, but it will also have a Child Under 13 Free Pass loaded.

As above, you can check that the pass has loaded to the card in the following ways:

  • Call 0800 555 345 and select the balance menu – this will also inform you of any passes
  • When you next tag off, the card reader will beep and display the word PASS” (examples of bus screens can be found here, and rail screens here.
  • Scan your card using the Snapper mobile app – if a pass is present on the card it will be displayed
  • Visit a Snapper retailer and request a balance enquiry receipt

It’s important to note that upon successful application, the Child Under 13 Free Pass must be physically collected onto the Snapper card, by checking the card balance on the Snapper app, or at a Snapper kiosk or retailer.
