How will I be charged?

Instead of charging you for every trip the same day, we add up your fares and process them overnight.

Is there a preauthorisation?

• Visa:  has a $0 preauthorisation. This may or may not be displayed on your bank statement depending on your bank.
• Mastercard: When you first tag on, you may see a temporary 10‑cent preauthorisation on your bank statement. This appears as a pending transaction.

At the end of the day, the total amount you spent on Metlink public transport replaces the preauthorisation charge. Your bank may take a few days to show the final charge.

Why are there multiple charges?

If your total travel for the day exceeds $30, the amount may be split into more than one transaction on your bank statement due to card preauthorisation limits.
