Is there any risk of my debit or credit card being charged accidentally, for example, through a wallet or pocket?


No. Your card or device won’t be charged unless it’s deliberately held against the card reader.
 

The card reader only processes a payment when a physical card or an active digital wallet is placed directly on the bus validator or station platform card reader. Simply having a card in your wallet, pocket, or bag near a reader isn’t enough to trigger a charge.
