    1. Tap on Open card Scanner
Hold your Snapper card to the back of your iPhone. Place your card on the NFC spot (usually near the top or middle back of your iPhone). The app will scan your Snapper card. Some iPhone cases can interfere with the NFC reader and may need to be removed in order for your Snapper card to be successfully scanned.

    2. Choose how much credit to add
      You’ll see a dial and a number showing a top-up amount.

      • Use the dial to scroll and pick your amount, or

      • Tap the amount shown to type in a different value.
Once you’re happy with the amount, tap “Confirm top-up.”

    3. Enter your payment details
On the next screen, type in your credit or debit card info.
      We accept VISA and MasterCard.

    4. Save your card for next time (optional)
You’ll be given the option to save your payment info.
You’ll be asked to set a 4-digit PIN to keep your details safe.

    5. Scan your Snapper card again
After your payment goes through, follow the app instructions to complete the top-up.
Be sure to collect your credit. To do this, hold your Snapper card to the back of your iPhone again to load the credit onto your card.

When topping up your Snapper card via the app, a 1.5% card processing fee will be added by the payment provider. The card processing fee will be included in the transaction amount, but it will not be added to your balance.

Compatibility

The Snapper iOS app is compatible with iPhone 8/iOS 15 and above. Older Snapper cards (without a + in the top right corner) or Snapper Sprats may not work with this app. If you experience problems, please get in touch and we will swap out your old Snapper for a new one.

This app is designed for use in conjunction with Snapper cards to pay as you go for travel in Wellington. Snapper RideBank cards should continue to be managed through the existing RideBank app.
