Metlink have rolled out changes to public transport across the Greater Wellington Region. So far Metlink have taken over delivery of bus services in the Wairarapa and Hutt Valley, with the final phase of the Kapiti Coast, Porirua, Wellington City and fare changes across the whole region.
We (Snapper) are the interim bus ticketing provider for Metlink, which means you can use a Snapper card to pay for your bus travel on all Metlink services.
Here’s a summary of the key changes that affect Snapper users, plus links to all this information on the Metlink website.
- Fares are changing – there is a general increase, plus additional discounts available such as off-peak fares, transfers and concessions.
- Metlink are introducing two new 30 day passes to replace the old Hutt Commuter, Go Wellington and Get About passes.
- Runcimans school term passes are being removed.
- Snapper will no longer be available on some independent commercial services, including NZ Bus, from 4th November.
